The Silhouette is more robust (locally-install software that doesn't rely on the Internet, more cutting force, not perfect but better with stickers generally, doesn't require a mat, can cut a 60-foot roll passing through it, etc.). However, you're stuck using software in the cloud. The Cricut is better at scoring (making paper bend for stuff like cards & papercraft) & has really amazing sewing resources.
